Just Between Us

I have so much to tell you!

Gravity vs. Tracy

I had a startlingly intelligent revelation this morning. When I was pregnant with my son, he was stuffed up high in my body, smashing my lungs and pressing on my ribs. I have a pretty short torso. The space between my hip bones and my ribs is a very short distance, so I’m guessing that as the first resident of my baby oven, he was forging the way and just headed north. My daughter, on the other hand, climbed down as low as she could get – literally like to the limit of lowness, sitting on my bladder and other organs in that area. I felt like I had to hold her up whenever I walked.

Are you aware that men have a high center of gravity and women have a low center of gravity? Like in football, you watch the upper body to determine which way a man is going to run, even when they try to do fake moves with their feet and arms. Women lead with the hip area. Oddly, boy climbed up to the man center of gravity, and girl slid down to the woman center of gravity.

I stumbled and fell a few times with my son in residence. One time in the middle of a street! I tripped and had no balance to even attempt to avoid the pull of gravity. And as it happens during hormonal fluctuations, I started to cry because I fell, which kind of stymied my progress in the crossing. Luckily this was a downtown street in a tiny little town and it was pretty deserted. The person with me eventually grabbed my arm and drug me the rest of the way across the street. I was sobbing, had skinned knees, was sweaty and looked “a mess”, but luckily the entry area of HEB grocery stores is the produce section, and it was absolutely freezing as usual. It dried the sweat, evaporated the tears and I brushed off the dirt in my skinned knees. People still stared. Maybe I was radiating motherly beauty. Maybe. The Italian guys at the hotel thought so… oh that’s a story for another day.

When my daughter was inhabiting the zone, I never felt off balance and didn’t trip or fall. My theory is that as a female, my balance was compromised by the upper body re-centering during my son’s reign, and with my daughter, I was perfectly in balance. That was the actual epiphany; Physics and Biology. Wow, SCIENCE.

It’s been a long time, and I never really put 2 and 2 together before. The best thing about all this is that it actually has zero importance, except in my personal history channels. Just a quick look into my brain activity for the day. Have a nice afternoon.

Until Next Time,

Your Friend, Tracy
