How Mismatched Strands Find Unison in the Wave
I get a lot of ideas and do much thinking in the shower; I guess because my mind is not required while my muscle memory washes my hair and face and automatically knows when to rinse and all the things showers include.
While thinking how convenient it would be to have curly hair instead of this straight fine hair that requires blow drying upside down so it can stand up off my scalp (curly hair can be left to dry on its own and be awesome), I began to wonder how wavy – not necessarily curly- hair can grow out of the scalp at varying distances from the crown to the neck and somehow cohesively fall into one wave of follicle fellowship. I mean, we all agree that hair grows from the root and seems straight for a while until one strand decides that a specific location, and at similar intervals thereafter, will take a turn and create a cohesive wave and all the other strands somehow go along with it. How does that happen?
I had perms in the past and loved the convenience of the after-shower, but the inconvenience, maintenance and cost of the every 6 week re-perm was a drag. The last two weeks as the root hair starts straightening requires work to camouflage the straightness (I had a crimping iron that I used). I guess I am over the will to be what I am not.
AI says that the wave clumping is a result of the drying process on oval hair strands. I don’t 100% buy that. It also talks about individual strands spooning… okay that was weird. Maybe its right… but people who never get their hair wet still have waves…
Also… on the subject of hair stuff, I understand the mascara brush that is curved and slightly thicker in the center of the length and thinner at both ends of the brush, but I don’t get that brush style that is straight, fat on both ends and thin in the middle. Can anyone explain that? What is it supposed to do? My eyelid is curved and the curved one mates with my eyelashes on my eye’s terms, but the other shape is weird and hard to reach the lashes it is created to enhance. There are just so many challenges in first world modern life.
Let me take a shower and think about that some more.
Until Next Time,
Your Friend, Tracy
